Hi All,
I’ve just met with Anna to discuss sorting out greenhouse finances. We still need to work out a system. We will give it thought and raise it at the next meeting. In the meantime, please hang onto receipts and bring them with you to the meeting. And please avoid making further purchases until that time so a system can be agreed to. Until then it is a bit complicated getting people reimbursed for things. Thanks for your understanding,
Karin

I talked to Barry Parker in Parkdale who has a greenhouse and he is willing to let us see it when he is home. We talked about using a fan run all the time and using shade cloth and reduce full direct sunlight since it is so exposed. I think we agree there is too much sun now. More themometer readings too are needed.

Please remove the trees from the greenhouse today, save the dead ones, which can be cut for posts we can use to grow the squash at each entrance. I have a tree saw you can borrow. Please heal in the three that are living to the garden bed east of the greenhouse. Sabina will move it to a permanent home.
I would like to have all tools purchase by the 19th so we can get volunteers to help move compost. to the garden area.
Need help making a raised bed for the bulbs, so will need 10 bags of gravel and 5 bags of construction sand. If we had it delivered to Annas house I can lend the group a strong dolley to get it there, or maybe Sabina can help, not sure. I will not respond to this till i return April 18th.
have fun shopping.

Purchased this week:
Potting soil – 8 bags
Shower wand for garden hose
Pruner
Safer soap concentrate
Spray bottle for mixing and using Safer soap
Total spent: $79.88
Did not purchase any shovels/spades – can we not ask volunteers to bring their own? Same with the wheelbarrow – is it really necessary? Do we have room to store it?
Barbara was going to get Pot Makers from Lee Valley.
Did not get any stools for the children to stand on – maybe we could put the word out and ask if anyone can donate their old ones.
Karen and I shopped at Fiesta Farms last night and saw a great rack system (VRE Grow Shelf). Cart and shelving system on wheels, 4 adjustable shelves, each able to accommodate 5 flats, could be rolled out for hardening off or cleaning. Approx cost – $300

I was just over at the greenhouse tonight. I think today’s warm weather was really hard on the plants. A lot of the seedlings were really dried out. And some are kind of yellowing? Is it time to start transplanting? Concerned some aren’t doing well.

We do have room for buckets if you cannot make space. Nice touch of cedars out there, did you save the dead ones?

Kathy and I decided to hold off on the wheelbarrow and shovels. We figured both of these could be borrowed for short-term use as these seem not needed on a regular basis in the greenhouse.
I can walk mine over tomorrow if you need it. It’s not a beautiful shovel, but it is a functional, decent spade.
